about Carmen Vernon, LISW-S
Carmen Vernon, LISW-S, is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Northeast Ohio, specializing in anxiety, OCD, and hoarding.
Carmen combines self-compassion approaches with cognitive behavioral therapies to support clients in getting out of their heads and back into the present moment.
Carmen has specialized training in exposure and response prevention in the treatment of OCD through the Behavior Therapy Training Institute (BTTI) and ongoing clinical consultation groups. For supporting decluttering, Carmen utilizes CBT for Hoarding, which she utilized for 3+ years as Lorain County’s leading clinician in treating hoarding disorder. For trauma treatment, Carmen utilizes cognitive processing therapy to target the beliefs keeping clients stuck in cycles of shame and self-judgment.
With humor, warmth, and empathy, Carmen integrates evidence-based models to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual client.
Carmen’s approach to therapy targets every client’s inner critic and introduces self-compassion to root out deeply held negative beliefs. Carmen helps clients find new ways to respond effectively to their thoughts and feelings. Carmen encourages clients to focus on what they can control: behaviors and creating meaningful lives aligned with their values.
